What current does it draw?
Approx 16AMP hours a day set @ -4 C with an ambient temperature of +25 C
Is this current draw variable?
The current will only vary when the voltage drops. @ 12.5V when the Bushman is running it will draw approx 3.8amps. As voltage decreases the amperage will then increase and vice versa.
Does it use more power when used as a freezer?
Yes. Compressor runs longer to maintain lower temperature.
Will running the fridge overnight at 0 deg. Celcius flatten the battery?
No, it shouldn't. The battery will generally last 2 days and nights. You will probably get longer than 2 days, but batteries vary and this is a safe limit.
Is the fridge plastic or steel?
The cabinet is steel and lids are poly carbonate, designed to sit on.
Can the Bushman run without the 2 x AA batteries in the display?
NO. The LCD display is the thermostat and controls the operation of the fridge. Without the batteries the fridge simply will not run.
My low lid is convex. Is this correct?
Yes. This allows the lid to flatten when subjected to external pressure and not distort and become concave.
How noisy is the fridge?
The fridge is quite silent. The only audible noise is that from the condenser fan. Noise rating is 35 Decibels.
Can the Bushman run on 24V?
Yes the Bushman will automatically sense the supply voltage
What happens if the digital themostat is accidently damaged or fails?
A bypass switch is located under the thermostat and allows the operator to run the fridge with the thermostat isolated.
Is a qualified refrigeration mechanic required to replace the thermostat?
No. The thermostat is a module and can be simply removed and replaced.
Can the 52 L extension collar be fitted to my old Bushman?
Yes
At what angle can the refigerator operate?
30 Degree heel and approx. 20 degree vertical.
Can I vary the speed or the compressor?
No. The speed is set to 1800 RPM.
How long is the 12V power inlet lead?
2.9 metres.
What type of fitting does it have?
Standard cigararette lighter
Can I tie the fridge down using the handles?
Yes. The handles are fitted with steel spindles and screwed to the steel body of the fridge.
Can I reverse the hinging on the lids from one side to the other?
No.
Is the fridge designed to withstand the rigours of off road use?
Yes. The fridge is robust and strong. The casing is steel, the hinges and lid clasps are also of steel. Lids are poly carbonate and extremely strong.
Are they manufactured in Australia?
No. Although we have contributed both in development and tooling costs the fridge is assembled in China to our Australian design. All baskets, stickers, instruction manuals and tooling design here in Australia.
How long is the warranty?
3 Years.
